Saturday update

The skating was fun :-) and I managed a cheeky blast around the village for a total of 6.5 miles.

The Nightmare Before Christmas - mug reverse (Day 18)

Day 18 already :-D

Well it's not wine o'clock now :-/ it's get out of bed early on a Saturday and go to the ice rink all morning o'clock.

This mug is cool, I was given it at Xmas from a secret Santa at work. Why's it cool? you ask... well The Nightmare Before Christmas is a great movie (and the sound track rocks thanks to Mr Danny Elfman) but also the mug holds about 2 normal mugs worth of tea :-D great if you had a little too much red wine the night before.

Friday, March 30

All work and no play...

... makes the running machine a happy boy. Another day of non-stop funtastic work without a break = no lunch = no running in the mid day sun :-( but not to worry, the little Nordic was waiting for a cheeky session as soon as I stepped foot in to the house.

So instead of pouring myself a cheeky Friday night brew, I put on my trainers and run a quick three and a half miles.

But now it is well and truly wine o'clock :-D Roll on the weekend!

Have a good 'Un.

Tick tock grandads clock (well great grandads pocket watch).

Thursday, March 29

Treadmill...

After a long day at work and no escape for a run, I was so happy that the Nordic was sat waiting for me :-D

3 quick miles later and I'm awake again.

The mileage has stayed a little lower again this week, as I've still got some foot pain and I don't want to make it worse.

Ps - how great are the lighter nights.

What a struggle

Boy! That hurt. I did a six miler and had a hard time of it, not sure why? I think that it was just one of them off days.

One thing that I have noticed is my left calf is killing me. This is due to me landing on my balls of my feet since my foot started to hurt; now that I have introduced my normal style my calf doesn't want to play. Plenty of stretching and muscle rub is the order of the day.

The weather has been AMAZING today :-D hope it stays like this, I love spring.

Day 14

Found these little lovelys next to the bin this morning...

Monday, March 26

LOL!...

Today Preston decided that he would join me for a cheeky lunch time 4 miler. About 3 miles in he had to stop to walk for a while, which is cool and the gang apart from today his timing was well off. Just as he made us stop some old dear came along side us on her electric wheel chair car thing and proceeded to take the p*ss out of us for being so slow. I had to bite my lip and restrain the Prestonator from tipping the granny mobile over :-D he needs to get fitter ASAP!

Salsa blogging

:-) tonight's class was well 'ard! And it took over one and a half hours to get it to sink in. All good fun though :-D and if there's any chaps out there who fancy a Sunday night dance session with ladies get on down to the village hall. There's only 5 men and 30 woman.

JogBlog owes me five English pence - Doctor Lovespoon stayed away again...

1 hour lost!

I agree with JogBlog it's really annoying when the clocks go forward an hour (or back again), try telling the small person that it's really best to stay in bed for an extra 10 minutes... no chance!

To make the day even better I had to get the other side of town to get some new tyres fitted (to the car not me) - which at the best of times makes your brain drip through your nose (they seem to have an even more boring magazine collection than the dentist and doctors put together) but boy was I in for a treat today. Only one person had shown up for work, and already 2 cars were in front of me :-/ 6 copies of tyre trends and what rubber later and it was my turn :-)

My ankle seems to be getting better slowly - so as not to push it I did a cheeky slow 3 miles on the trampoline-treadmill :-D

I hope normal mileage will resume next week.

Salsa class tonight - what will happen? will the doctor turn up?... tune in later for the latest village hall gossip!

Day 12

Well it's day 12 of the photo a day for a year thing... I'd like you all to say hello to my favourite Werewolf :-D

Saturday, March 24

Saturday Update...

The small person has no concept that the weekends mean staying in bed until at least 7.30am - 5.30 is just too early!

This at least made me get up and go for a run beforw ice skating (I couldn't bring myself to run back today). So 5 miles around the village it was :-)

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Who you gonna call...

Thursday, March 22

Nearly back...

My leg/foot pain combo seems to be going away :-) So to celebrate I went for a slow 4 mile run. All seems to be well - I am going to keep the mileage down for a few more days to make sure, but hopefully be back on form next week.

My run this lunch time took me down the side of a river (about 2 miles worth... and home of the famous flashing incident). I couldn't help but notice the huge amount of high strength beer cans littered along the path - but the drunks must be territorial. East side of the bridge the empties are made up 90% of Tennants super but West side the most popular tipple seems to be Carlsberg special brew. I'm not sure which camp I would fall into - I think I'd stick in the middle (under the bridge) drinking cider.

Lunch time run number 2

Well my foot seemed to be ok so I headed out for a little jaunt this lunchtime. Managed 4 miles this time, but the pain seems to have moved to my ankle :-/ rubbish! I'll see what happens over night and make my mind up about what to do then.

Not much else to report at the moment.

Salsa week 4

The Doctor is back! and judging by tonight's performance he was off having 2 flat feet fitted ;-)

The dancing seems to be going well :-) 4 more weeks to go and then we can move up a class, I hope we get a badge or something...

On the foot pain side of things it seems to be easing off, so fingers crossed Preston and I can get out for a run tomorrow.

That's what all the croaking was about the other night :-P

No running for me today - my foot has decided to get worse during the night :-/ RUBBISH! I hate not running - I'll rest it from running for a bit and hope it goes away.

This morning instead of my run (due to said foot) I thought I'd dig out the weights and do a session with them - Man am I weak! Before I got into running I trained with weights 4-5 times a week at the gym, but since running 6 times a week takes up most of my time I've not really done much lifting. Error! I think I'll try and keep some weights on the go from now on ;-)

Well off to make some cakes with the little person for Mothers day and then some salsa dancing tonight.

Saturday, March 17

Saturday commute...

Well sort of ;-) another early start for the Ice rink and a run home... this is one of the only times I run with my bright yellow top on as I have to run along country roads with no foot paths towards the traffic - and I don't want to become pancake.

The weather for my run was amazing :-) sunny and a little breezy. The only down side to the run, my foot is killing me :-/ bugger! (I think it is the ice skating) I'm hoping the ice and iboprofen (and red wine) will make it go away over night.

PS run six miles

Day 2

My foot isn't hurting as much today :-D lunchtime run it is then.

Wednesday, March 14

OUCH!

When I woke up this morning my foot was hurting, not sure why - did someone send the foot smashing pixies in the night?

I thought that I'd see if it went away during the day, and hopefully go for a lunchtime run. But work got in the way of lunchtime and by the time I headed to my car my foot was still aching. So no run for me today - fingers crossed it will go away before tomorrows run with the Prestonator (I'm looking forward to it as he hasn't run in 2 weeks).

Now all I need to do is think of what I'm going to take a photo of...

Day 1

Took this on the way to work.

Tuesday, March 13

Bernard.

Well I didn't know what to name my post today - so out came the generic big gun "Bernard" :-P

No running yesterday (Monday) instead we went to the pub to have a birthday drink for one of the account managers. After work we had another Salsa lesson... this one was free so it would have been rude to say no. Salsa is cool.

Today I did a cheeky 6 miles :-P I'm going to try and run another 4 or 5 six milers this week and hopefully break my 30 mile cap.

It was Straight to the pool after work. No swim for me though :-( it's swimming team/club training for the funsized. It's all going well even kick turns etc. I want to be able to swim like that! perhaps I can get her to teach me some time.

Tomorrow I'm going to start a new photo project thing. I'm going to take a picture everyday for the next year and post it up to Flickr, drop in and have a look and see how fantastic it is to live my life up north :-)

Salsa blog...

WOW! don't tell anyone (because I'll deny it) but I'm really starting to enjoy the salsa sessions. Maybe it is because being a parent you always take back seat when it comes to doing the things you want to do, and also never seem to have time to do things as a cheeky couple. But the dancing is a chance to be us again :-D and it's good. But before I lose all my MAN POINTS I'll shut up ;-)

Steps learned =

Basic step
Side step
Back step
Open step
Basic Turn
Double turn
Suzie q

and a few others.

PS Doctor stalker has left the building - well the village hall, he seems to have ditched the class, perhaps spending an hour a week with his wife has made him revaluate their relationship.

How great is the weather today :-D Well it is up north.
Managed a cheeky 4.5 miler this morning - pretty non eventful really :-/

This brings my weekly total in at 27 miles - I'm hoping to finish work on time next week and get those cheeky 3 miles roped in that keep eluding me!

Salsa tonight... stay tuned for more tales from the village hall ;-)

Saturday, March 10

Phew!

Saturday mornings are a right rush. Early doors for skating practise then we all get a go on the ice - I wished I could have lessons...it's not fair! I can't go backwards but the small person can.

Things that can only happen in a ladies clothing emporium - whilst waiting out side the changing room area with nothing to do I noticed a woman waiting to pay. She wasn't the most pleasing person on the eye (not that I'm an oil painting so I'm not judging on looks) - but what really made me feel uncomfortable was what she was buying, a new batch of thongs...ERRWWWW!! She was stood there stretching the gussets as she held them high in admiration. I just couldn't help but get a mental image of her wearing them later... stretchy stretchy.

After we all went skating I ran home, this time I headed in to the woods and did 8 miles.

Friday

It took a long time coming, but it's on bloody Friday! :-P YAHHHHHHHHH!
Work has sucked harder than a Dyson this week (long days and some late nights) and I'm so happy that it's over for 2 days.

I managed a quick 4 miles this lunchtime, the weather was sweet. I can't get over I'm running in t-shirts still (and shorts ;-) in-case you were worried).

Good news on the cancer front, today was the last chemo day, and the pic line was taken out. We now have to hope that the huge lump in his shoulder is not another cancer...

Hope everyone has a great weekend - see you tomorrow after the jog home from the ice rink.

Lunar eclipse 1

Here's my best picture from the lunar eclipse :-D - another more standard style can be found over at flickr.

Today's lunchtime run was cool in more ways than one. I did a swift 4 miles, and it felt easy. But it was cooler than I had thought it would be... well windy and wet, and I had no jacket - tshirt and shorts brrrrr!

Ps - Our bargain hunt was on today, My Mum texted me to tell me that she had got it on video :-D

Salsa week two

Well everyone from last week turned up and some more (right little earner). I must admit I really am enjoying the old salsa lessons. If you ever get the chance it's worth a go. This week we learned how to spin our partners and ourselves around and about 3 more steps.

I have to laugh a the tw@ts that take it way too seriously though, I don't think they like us two mucking around and enjoying it so much.

My main source of amusement is a middle aged doctor (I know he is a doctor as he used to be ours, when we lived miles away... he must have moved as well, eeekkk! stalker!).

He obviously does not want to be there at all, you can tell by the look on his face (think of all the times you had to go to Sunday school when you were a kid x10), and has been dragged along by his Mrs Bucket style wife :-) he sure is light on his toes, well flat on his feet. And judging by the way he shakes his groove he is wearing wooden underwear.

More updates from the dance floor (village hall) next week.

Running Totals

111 miles for the last 4 weeks :-)
This time last year I was lucky to put in 14 miles.

Sunday set

After watching the lunar eclipse we went to bed early last night. So this morning I didn't feel like I needed to lay around when my alarm went off. It is getting easier to get up in the mornings as they seem to steadily be getting brighter :-) BRING ON SPRING!

I went down and did a steady 4.5miles on the treadmill :-) that brings my weekly total up to 26 miles, I need to get my ass in gear and do 1 more mile a day for 4 days to bring it up to the magical 30 miles.

Salsa lesson number 2 tonight - I wonder how many will ditch it after 1 week?

Running blues

My last week of running has sucked! You know when you really don't want to go out for a run, but you keep forcing yourself out the door but when you do, you spend the whole run thinking of why are doing this it hurts, it's cold, it's wet, it's stupid and I'm getting slower.

So when the alarm clock rang this morning I couldn't face dragging my butt out of bed and out of the door. We had to leave at 8.30am to take the small one to her ice skating lesson so I decided that I would run home from there and let the girls drive the 6 miles back.

After the skating lesson, we all had an hour on the ice - I was tutored on all the latest techniques by my fun sized expert :-) Next was a quick change in the car park, much to the delight of the general public (doesn't bother me, we have spent years of getting in and out of wetsuits in public places...) Then I headed off for my run home.

The Blues have gone :-D

I had one of my best runs to date :-) I love it when a run goes well - the weather was ace and the tunes on my iPod rocked!

How can it be possible to hate and love running so much?

Got out and did 3.5 miles at luchtime so If I can get my lazy ass out and about over the weekend I shouldn't be too far off 30 miles this week :-)

Hope everyone has a good one and look forward to reading them posts.

Ps my updated iPod play list rocks - The Cure, Dirty Pretty Things, The Eighties MatchBox, Five O'clock Heroes, Fratellis, The Hives, Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, The Killers, Lily Allen, Muse and the View :-D

New blog on the block...

You may have noticed in the right hand side column that "I am a Disney Geek". I don't know when and how it started, but I love the parks and some of the movies and characters (Donald Duck and Stitch are my favourites).

I also love to read the blogs and also listen to the podcasts.

How does this tie in to running? well did you know that there is a Disney half and full marathon. How cool would it be to race around the parks :-) and get one of these when you finish.

One day I hope that I can get my ass over and have a go.

On a few of the podcasts I listen to one of the talented voice contributors has made a pledge to get fit and run the 2009 WDW half. As well as his goal to lose weight and get fit he is also raising money to help send families of seriously ill children on a holiday of their lifetimes.

Well done!

And to help keep him motivated he has started a blog. Drop in and say hi and help him keep on track :-)
