Ohpss!

Error!
Team day out at Centre Parcs :-) Ace day climbing and 3 hours messing around in the swimming pool and surfing the 4man dingy down the longest pool slide :-P

Not much running - But feel of the wagon and had 3 wines and a cider. Back on the wagon until the half marathon now - out for a run tomorrow and Sunday.

2 weeks today Dad had to have his stomach removed; apparently you can carry on eating as normal but very small meals. So fingers crossed that's it...

A Big Thank You...

To everyone who has sponsored me for the up-coming 'Robin Hood' half marathon. So far we've managed to amass a grand total of £185.90 :-) which is going towards Cancer Research.

Back on track

Listened to my ankle yesterday and decided to have a rest day.

Managed to get out this lunchtime for a nice 6K route accompanied by my amigo Preston esq. :-) The weather was ideal for it - not too hot or too cold.

The Detox is going strong! Day 9 already, the only thing I've changed is 1 caffeine fix a day - my head can't cope without it. I've still got the sauce under control, it's not been as hard as I’d imagined it to be (bonus).

On an unrelated note - I saw a snail doing about 50mph this morning :-) Sat in my car on the dual carriage way a car past me with a snail clinging to the side for dear life lol! I bet he won't find his way home again for a while.

Weekend Round-up

Well I've managed a week! yah! Thanks to jogblog's fantastic I can't believe it's not vodka drink - Lime and Soda :-) it's been a breeze... only another 76 days to go.

The weather is fantastic again - went out for a 5K blast round the block. Did I mention how much I love my ipod :-) it's the best thing I've had for ages, I don't know how I used to run without it.

With todays 5k added to this weeks other runs, I've made my 30K goal and 1 to spare :-)

Next weeks goal is to carry on with the detox and run 40k (fingers crossed).

I'd forgotten how much I like bike riding ( you can free wheel :-P ). I am thinking of going out 3 times a week as well as the running just to stretch out some under used muscles.

Got back home and put my trainers on and went for a jog. I had a great run; It's nice to start getting back into my stride and not coughing all the way round. Keeping an eye on my ankle still though, always putting the ice pack on it when I'm finished seems to be keeping it under control.

4+4

= 8k :-) did a pre work run, it's got a bit windy the last day or so - but lucky for me it wasn't in my face. Looking forward to start cranking up the miles next week :-)

Hopefully nipping out for a lunchtime blast.

Update
Got out and did a 4K jog with Preston :-P The wind has picked up even more - but my luck has changed, this time it was pushing us backwards.

All I need to do now is draw Chunk and Photoshop 'em together as nature intended.

Give it a rest!

That's what I decided to do this when I woke up this morning at 6.00am.

Why give it a rest? well my ankle has been hurting a bit and I don't want to go down the route I had to the other month again. So I thought that i'd listen to my body and rest up a bit. Hopefuly going to do a 8K tomorrow morning before work - and maybe a 3K run/walk with the crew at lunchtime.

The Detox has started to give me a thickhead (it was pretty thick to begin with), hopefuly this will go after a week - I think it's the lack of coffee (couldn't be the vodka). :-)

Well that's all folks....for now.

Ps The Jack Sparrow costume is coming along :-P

Morning!

Managed another morning run today - 3K :-)

I have been thinking a lot about changing some things in my life to get me fitter and quicker for my next race. When I started running last year I had no real goals and to be honest didn't think that I’d stick to it. Little did I know that it would take over my spare time, and cost me as much as it has :-P.

After reading RunnerSusans blog the other day it made me stop and think about what I wanted to achieve from running. Like most runners, I would like to improve my times, stay fit and keep on running (but I'm going to stick to 10k, 15k and half marathons).

With this in mind I have decided to devote the next 82 days to my running, I'm going to stay off the grog and eat clean - I am really interested to see what difference sorting this side of my life out (even though it's not really bad now) will have on my running.

I'll keep you updated ;-)

Now for another stolen idea - this time from jogblog, a table of daily bits of info :-)

Slippy feet...

Got up and headed out again – its becoming a habit this running in the morning. I did a 3k again. I’m setting myself another week of shorter runs – and a target of 30K for next week. If this goes well (for my ankle) I’ll start adding the miles or K’s after that.

Top tip

My feet have been drier than a southwest reservoir for the last few weeks, so last night before going to bed I covered them in vaseline (or should I say boots cheaper generic petroleum jelly based product) and put an old pair of socks on. :-P Result! This morning they feel so much better! And if that’s not enough to have you heading to the chemists – you get the added bonus of simulated ice skating in the shower as you forget that it makes your feet slippy :-D

No angry horses today – they had just been fed :-P

Abuse...

Over the last year of running I have become accustomed to the barrage of abuse dealt out by passing people. This usually comes from a half wound down passenger window of a white van. But today I was shouted in a way that made me smile for the rest of my run :-)

The farmer at the bottom of the lane must be renting a field out for pasture as it’s full of horses and cows. As I ran past the field earlier today a horse popped his head a up and neighed (I think that’s the right word) loudly at me - making me jump out of my skin. He then followed me down the field shouting as he went. LOL! All he needs now is a white van!

On the running front, only did 3K - It’s so hot already :-P I don’t know how people can run in the mega hot weather - hats off to you all! (well hats on and sun block).

Off into town now to look for costume making stuff… (another blog later)

It's contagious

Just got back into work after a quick 1.5miler :-) with 2 people (yes, 2!)

Preston is keeping up the running, and now another new recruit has become a member of the lunchtime running team.

If we keep adding joggers at this rate, the whole team will be out and about - enough to scare the chav's who ride up and down the river bank on unlicensed motorbikes looking cool :-P

Late to bed, Early to rise

Went to bed last night at twelve, knowing I had to get up this morning at five to get some work done, before work :-/

The alarm clock rang (well the baby jackdaw outside the bedroom window) and woke me up just before five. :-) Being my most creative first thing in the morning (not) I cracked on and got the work finished by about six :-)

With time to spare (I have to leabe for work at about half seven), I thought I might as well go for a run. WOW! I managed to do a 8K - the longest I have ran since doing my ankle. Fingers crossed this marks a return to form, not sure if I'm just paranoid now - but every little twinge in my ankle freaks me out.

I Love running! it's ace! Time to clear my head, and take in some countryside before the day heats up. Sweet! Well time to start work... again :-P

Cool! so far it has been viewed 51 times, which is a lot (I think - as all the others have a max view of 26)

Does anyone think that I should do another? It's not my normal style I normally do stuff like this :-)

YUM!

Another lunchtime run :-) 3-4K (I need to get my Garmin out). It was so ace - warm/hot with a cooling breeze! And to add to the deal I don't even need to buy lunch :-) I have eaten enough free protein (flies) for the rest of the day :-)

I'm also happy to say it looks like my fitness is due for arrival next week - if I keep up the slow runs :-P

Cancer update - Well it's rubbish but not as rubbish as it could be. Looks like 3x1weeks of chemo then major surgery to cut what is left of the tumour out of his oesophagus L Looks like it’s going to be a long summer – Hopefully all will work out good. I’ll keep you up-to-date. Again thanks for the support and sponsorship.

Hot Mile

:-) Summer has managed to stay with us for more than a week :-P

Woke up with a slight hangover, so went for a Miler :-) glad I did - It's cleared my head, enough to make me wash the car before we head off for some lunchtime madness at a kids party.

:-)

Just a quick one

Got home last night and it was still lovely and roasting hot :-) did a 3K run - man it's hard to run in the heat :-)

We ran about 3-4miles yesterday :-)

Guest Blogger...

Preston wanted to write a guest blog entry and seeing that he gets paid to rearrange 26 letters for a living, I thought we'd let him have a go.

Hold on to your hats, here goes...

Jogger-Bloggees

Having put it off throughout the winter, my standard excuse of ‘it’s too cold to run’ has finally become obsolete. I attempted to back out with fresh claims of it being ‘too hot to run’ but there was no escape. It was time to get jogging and do one…

And I have to say I’m glad I did. Me and ‘The old JB’ had a steady jog around the estate, the sun was shining on our pale faces and, for once, I was out of the office at lunch time without a pint of Guinness in my hand. All in all it was a nice way to spend half an hour and I’m proud to say I’m fully signed up to the (summer) jogging gang.

Now it’s time to get showered up. ‘The JB’ claims it’s ‘Jogger Blogger’ law to share the same shower cubicle. Who am I to argue?

Cancer Research

I have set up a 'just giving' page to raise a little bit of money towards cancer research. :-)

If anyone would like to sponsor me follow this link :-P but we warned it's not suitable for the fainthearted as the page contains a picture of me :-/

Cheers :-)

Cancer is sh*t continued...

Well the man from Del Monte say's yes :-( It's stomach cancer - so we have to wait and see what's going to happen next. It's pooh all round!

Going to run for cancer research again this year at the Robin Hood marathon, I'll set up a sponsor page (it'd be great if you could spare a £ or 2)

Hope Jogblog's run goes well tonight :-P good job that it's not really hot - opphs it is, remember to drink plenty :-)

Ekk!

Just checked my last post and it seems my template is playing up - no comments.com
I'll have a play around with it when I get home - normal service will resume.
And when it is please leave a comment :-)

Heatwave part 2

Still hot outside which is good, I'm still unfit :-( but getting better :-) did the lunchtime shuffle around the 3K lap (on my own) :-)

I hoping that my foot is going to behave now - and am really looking forward to this time next month - I'm hoping that I will be fit again by then :-) fingers crossed.
