Rain rain go away!

RamsHead, originally uploaded by jogger164.

Boy will someone turn the tap off please. The rain is making running hard work. Managed to do a 6 mile swim/jog today.

I'm loving the soup. Soup, soup a tasty soup! (as the Boosh would say). I've got it nailed, I make 2 batches a week and they last us both out - we have it everyday at lunch. Yum.

Well not much else to post - might have tomorrow...

Happy Birthday Mr E. Have a great weekend and enjoy the parks for us! And also get some Bedjumping pictures (but don't blame me if you break your spleen.)

On the other side of the ocean - how rubbish is the weather? Rain and wind couldn't bring an end to the mile crusade. Another 6 miles done and added to the pot for this year.

Situp challenge is still on the up - it's going well :-D

See ya.

Day 3 of getting 40 miles a week done for December and I managed to put in a lovely quick 6 miles. At this rate I should be in credit before the end of the week. Even though it's tough to get out the door at this time of year running is so good for clearing your mind.

Cancer is CRAP update
I haven't blogged in a long time about Dads cancer because as anyone who has had the misfortune of being touched by cancers stinking finger, all you seem to do is wait, wait and then wait some more. After all the operations and months of chemo we had hoped all was well. Apparently not. We are waiting to hear what the full story is and options, but it is just crap! Cancer can just go and F*CK OFF!

Back again...

Hi back online :-D busy busy bust for a change.

London was ok, sorry JB didn't see your comment until last night. Next time I'm down we will have to go out for a cheeky pint with the bear.

Public transport is pants! the train home was a sham! 2 coaches stood up nearly all the way home, which I wouldn't mind but when the tickets cost more than a £100 I think it's a rip off!

I will have to catch up with everyones blogs asap.

This time next week we will be on the way to the airport (fingers crossed) Really looking forward to the holiday big time! and meeting up for the TOWER OF TERROR.

Jinx has found himself a new toy (see the video).

Hope everyone is keeping well and all the feet/ankles/legs are getting better.

Are you gay?

DSCF1382, originally uploaded by jogger164.

That's the question we got asked whilst out jogging yesterday lunchtime. Rewind. At the moment there is huge construction project going on near work, so at lunchtime the whole area is full of builders. So when Sam and I (a new recruit to the running club) went running yesterday we attracted the attention of two quality builders sitting on a park bench drinking Stella.

"Are you 2 Gay?" one of them shouted as we ran past. I turned around ans answered "No it's just sex" - He couldn't think of a retort quick enough, so we jogged on. I must admit it's the best verbal abuse yet I have received while running.

No run today - work and meetings took priority :-( Back on it tomorrow

JINX Is still a blast - pity we can't bring him to Disney (12 days to go). He went to school yesterday for show and tell and was in the classroom for an hour and a half :-) the kids loved him.

Has someone decided to switch the outdoor heaters off without asking my opinion? It was freezing this morning!

But the sun eventually popped out to make it my kind of day, crisp and fresh – ideal for running, bike riding or surfing. But seeing as I was at work the last two options were out of bounds. So when lunchtime dragged around I happily slapped on my trainers and headed out for a midday jog. Six miles later and that was that.

The house stinks of paint at the moment. Spurred on by the imminent arrival of the hairless one this Friday house makeover part two is in full swing. Lots of snagging jobs like glossing the new doors, changing the alarm sensors to pet safe ones and making window screens… busy, busy.

Swim training after work for the fun sized person. She moaned about it last week. I’m not surprised. There was no gentle easing back in to it after the 4-week break – straight in for an hour’s non-stop hardcore swimming action. So fingers crossed it’s not as much of a shock to her system tonight.

Countdown = 3 sleeps for Jinx and 29 days for Florida.

Back blogging...

DSCF0881, originally uploaded by jogger164.

Hi all, what a week :-/

Managed to total my car on the way to work Friday – not the greatest start to the day but at least everyone was ok. I have been busy sorting all the cr*p that goes along with that.

My ankle was still hurting loads Friday so I took it easy over the weekend (still put some miles in).

I will play catchup on everyones blogs when I get home tonight (going to be another late one) – hope everyone is keeping well and still out running for the September push.

Running =
Friday 1mile, Saturday 2 miles, Sunday 2 miles, Monday 3 miles and Tuesday 6 miles.

PS - Jinx comes home to live next week.

Back Up North

Day 128, originally uploaded by jogger164.
Well London was fun, sweaty packed tube trains (but at least the 2 lines I needed were working).

I managed to get back up north safe and sound and even fit in some extra hours of work :-/

I haven't had time to blog about the weekend. I saw the funniest thing I have ever seen on 2 wheels. This youth was heading towards us as we were driving to Melton looking really odd on his scooter. When I say odd, he was hunched over the handler bars trying to hold on to some kind of huge bag. But this wasn't the strangeness that I'm talking about. He was wearing - wait for it.... ice skates. Why would anyone wear ice skates whilst riding a motor bike?

Back to the running - I managed to get another run in today (I'm feeling a lot better) 6 miles, so far so good I have managed a 100% September running record so far.

Day 117, originally uploaded by jogger164.

Monday sure came around fast :-(

But on the plus side of things the weather seems to be sticking in 'Warm' mode. Lovely.

Managed to get some miles in as well - 6 in all. I think that's going to be it for this month for my mileage, hoping to ramp up the training next month to get me in shape for the Robin Hood. I'm planning to put in 13 miles every Sunday so the final 1/2 marathon won't be a shocker.

Surprise, surprise

Some idiot around here must have been listening to all the chicken banter going on in blog world and thought it would be a good idea to have some in their garden. Ok for hens - but they went for the junior farmer pack which included a rooster! 4.00am this morning he decided it was time to wake his girls up and us as well... I think I may have to find out who has him and liberate him one morning.

So after trying to fall back to sleep for another hour I got up and went for a run. 6 miles in the morning sun - Bliss.

When I got home the small person was waiting dressed in her running kit with her trainers on :-D So we headed out together and did 2 miles. She has really improved with her running and nearly did a mile before walking for a bit. I don't like pushing her to hard as her asthma plays up sometimes.

I also took her to see some cheeky horses that have been put in a field at the bottom of the village - she loved 'em, and they seem to love her. We are going to head out again tomorrow - looks like I have a new running partner :-D

Lardathon™ Day 9

Well after a weekend off I made sure that I packed a pair of trainers so that I could head off for some miles. And miles I got in the form of a cheeky little 6 miler. Loved it!

Someone even switched the sun on (apart from the last mile when it rained). I think I need to get a new pair of trainers soon - I must have done 500-600 miles in these (the downside of running more).

I need to start some proper miles soon, can't slack off Juneathon has left me wanting more.

Food today = Rice cakes, Chicken salad - glass of red.

Lardathon™ Day 1 – well my day 1

Unlike the rest of the 'Lardies' I took Sunday off as my offical no run, eat what you like day.

And what food did you have? I hear you cry. Well we had a lip-smacking Cantonese from the local take away and a 2 pints of cider whilst watching hot fuzz on DVD (well well funny).

So today was the start of Lardathon™ and I kicked it off with a soaking wet 6 miles. I haven't had anything to eat yet, but will post what I do have later.

In other news - I've started to make one of my little sketches into a sculpture - if it turns out ok I'll make a silicon mold and do some resin ones (kind of like designer toys). Have a look over at the work in progress shots - need to do lots of sanding tonight to make it super smooth, let me know what you think.

Food today = 1 packet of walkers french fries (S&V) 90 cals, 1 Rice cake and Chicken salad. I may have a glass of red later.

And Me :-)

That's 9 in total - sorry if I missed anyone off, let me know if I did.

That Friday feeling! (Day 52)

How long has this week lasted? AGES.

But it's Friday, and over in the UK it's even better than a normal weekend - It's a Bank Holiday weekend. YAH, extra time at home with no work, work (if that makes sense).

The downside to it being a Banker is the weather seems to have worked it out this time and decided to lay on some rain for us :-(

Not sure what we are up to over the weekend - but some long runs (or at least one) house/garden jobs and ice skating etc

Running wise I managed to get my backside out for another run, 6 miles all in :-D

Hope everyone has a fun weekend and running - looking forward to reading them blogs.

Back on track.

What a few days I've had.

London was fun - apart from working like a nutter on the Wednesday, rushing to the hotel, cramming in to an already overfull tube carriage that broke down (at this point I was questioning why I had my winter coat on..sweat, sweat, sweat - then I remembered that I had left home at 6am when it was cold).

When I got to the hotel (which was very, very nice) I had 5 minutes to have a shower, iron my shirt and get suited.

I Rushed out with one of the guys from work and headed off down Park lane to find the ball room at the Dorchester. We went in the door down the stairs and realised we had came to the wrong gig - not a design awards but the Muslim Journalism awards. Making a swift exit stage right we finally found the right venue.

My Mum was right - the ball room is very nice (she used to go dancing there when she was a teenager) the only thing that was odd was a cage suspended from the ceiling full of stuffed birds (at this point I wished I had taken my camera).

2 glasses of champagne later I remembered that I hadn't eaten all day, but fear not I still managed at least another bottle or 2 of house white (it would have been rude not too it was free after all).

The awards where a good laugh, met some cool people who encouraged me to drink more and then went on for some more drinks elsewhere. Got back to the hotel at 3.30am feeling great. That feeling didn't last long though, I had to get up 3 hours later to catch my train back up to work.

How comes when you have a hangover, work is never easy - had loads on but made it! Six o’clock soon came round and signalled the start of a long weekend.

Got up this morning and did a 6 miler. Hope everyone has a smashing bank holiday :-D
