It's the final countdown...

It’s time to get serious – well as serious as I can be. I’ve just checked my calendar and it’s only 14 weeks to the Nottingham RobinHood half. Now that my ankle seems to be behaving it’s time to get some proper miles and training in.
I've redone the counter on the right-hand side to count down to the race :-P

Three is the magic number

It seems at the moment that I am mainly doing 3K - Just got back in from a run around the block. Seems to be getting a little easier (thank goodness) and hopefully will continue to get steadily easier over the next 2 weeks :-)

I have been having some trouble with the carbon fibre shoe inserts - it feels like that you are running on concrete - to fit them in to my trainers, I've had to take out the existing trainer liners and squeeze the new ones in. The only problem is that the carbon fibre ones aren't full inserts. So when you run they pinch at the top of your feet :-/ ERROR!!

Solution = take the original liners and cut the top bits to fit the gap. Glad that I thought of it, they now feel like proper shoes again :-) and don't rip my toes off.

NEWSFLASH! Some new animals have moved in at the bottom of the lane, loads of black and white cows :-P I've got some pictures of 'em, but have left the adapter to my Sony camera at work.

Hope everyone else has a great weekend :-) and guess what? it's raining! roll on bank holiday.

I've found it...

The answer to all my fitness prayers :-P

Just a quick one

The weather up north has been lovely today (well the hour that spent on the motorway was nice).

Got home and went out for a quick one around the block :-) It still hurts so much, I can't wait to get my fitness back - If it dosen't turn up soon, I might look on e-bay for some.

Looking forward to some time off work with the UK bank holiday this monday, but you can bet that the weather turns bad.

I can't remember how far it was...

Went for a run at lunchtime, I did a route that I've run loads of times (probably not as slow as I am at the moment though) but I can't remeber how far it is, I think it's about 4k. I will get out my old Sat Nav watch and map it tomorrow :-)

The weather seems to be kind of ok, but wow! windy as windy can be :-/

Cancer is Sh*t!

Sorry this blog is a non-running related rant.

One of the reasons that I started running was the time it gave me to clear my mind and sort all the sh*t that goes on it out – one of those things was my Dad (well father in law, but he is one of my best friends so he is Dad) was diagnosed with cancer last year.

So running helped me cope with the impact that had on all our life’s as a family, and the main reason that I run for cancer research here in the UK.

He had his operations etc last year and all was looking good, but the bastard disease is back this time choosing his stomach to set up home. We found this out yesterday. And I’m still gob smacked – we are waiting to see how bad it is and what will be the outcome etc.

If anyone has ever had a family member or friend that has had cancer then you’ll now how bad the waiting game truly is. It’s pants! And cancer is rubbish.

Time for a lunchtime run I think.

Not much running

But I'm covering loads of miles... on the train :-P
Late one down to London and back last night for a D&AD lecture from these guys bbh and it was worth the rushing around :-)

On the running front - Hope to heading out tomorrow and final settle into so proper running, I don't think that I'm going to be able to hit the Hi mileage that I was doing, as my ankle is still tweaking abit :-(

New Kid On The Blog

The intern at the studio has started training :-P Good work! And to help himself stay motivated he has started a blog: Johnny Twelve Pack
The twelve pack project to bulk up, with extra added vodka.

With a nutrition plan like that he can’t help but succeed :-)

Wet 'Un

Just had a quick saturday morning run (3k - still taking it easy) and I think that Mrs nature waited for me to just get to the top of the lane to pour out a heafty measure of rain on my head :-P

That said, I had a good run and it's nice to be running when it's warm not freezing cold :-)

Vom Fass anyone?

Saw this shop sign the other day in Stratford-Upon-Avon and it made me smile :-)

I haven't seen these shops before (not sure if they are a chain store or not) I think that they sell alcohol in flask type containers... and if you drink to much you may end up Vom Fassed!

Getting 'round 2 it

Been working like a nutter this week :-P up and down to Looniedon as well has all added up to not much time for running.

I am, and I mean AM going to get my slack backside out of the door running tomorrow and Sunday :-). I'm also going to make sure that I run at least 5 times next week - I'm not going to let work get in the way next week :-P (easily said on the count down to the weekend).

Well off home soon - So hope you all have a Great weekend and some good running!

Anyone for flying insects?

Just got in from a jog around the block :-) 3k in all and the ankles cool and the gang :-P

I can't get over how pants a month off training has made me :-( But it felt so good going out for a run :-) I LOVE RUNNING!!

Also a month has made some extra changes - There’s fly's everywhere buzzing about :-/ and my huge mouth managed to channel a frogs portion into my throat, YUM! not good!

So it looks like my running is back for good, all I need to do now is get the old fitness back up to scratch.

Too wet to camp

It was way to wet too go camping by about 10am yesterday – So we decided instead to go to York for the day and then head over to Cayton bay (just south of Scarborough) on the way home.

We had a fantastic time – If you have never been to York the Castle Museum is great :-) the shopping’s good and the architecture is truly awesome! I have posted some pictures below :-)

Not to go camping was the right choice – I can’t think of anything worse than waking up in a cold wet tent (well apart from waking up on a kids slide with a hangover – but that’s a different story :-P)

Off out for a short run in a bit – hopefully all will stay right with my ankle :-)

Rain, rain go away...

Off to the coast camping in about an hour – hopefully the weather will stay dry long enough for us to put up the tent – It’s a new one so fingers crossed the bag actually has all the right bits in (we haven’t had a chance to check yet).

How comes the weather has been amazing all week when I’ve ever been shut inside a windowless studio or going up and down to London :-( somebody must hate workers upstairs :-)

Going to start running again properly next week – my ankle seems to be ok now (I’m paranoid about any little twinges) – I think that I will stick to doing a mile a day for the first week, then build it up from there :-P

Anyway have a great weekend – and if you see a tent bobbing around in the sea on the news you know that we didn’t have enough tent pegs in the bag ;-)

Cheeky mile

:-) I'm back!

Don't tell the foot doctor but I went for a cheeky 1-mile last night and my foot seems to be ok :-) YAH!!

Rewind - My foots been felling ok for about a week, I've been swimming and weights etc but the call for a run has been shouting in my ear!!

Fast-forward - Got home from work last night and thought "yeah, what the hell..." put my trainers on (with inserts that still feel odd) and went for a cheeky mile. It felt great, but I can't get over how quickly I've lost my running fitness :-( But hopefully it should only take 2 or 3 weeks to regain it :-)

I didn't blog about the run till this morning in case I woke up with a baboon ankle again, but all looks good.

I’ve added a link on the left to "jkrunning", pop over and have a read :-)

Fingers crossed its another little mile tonight.

Tuesday, May 2

Hello world :-)

Looking over my webstats this weekend I was really surprised how many people drop in for a read from all over the globe :-)

Thanks for visiting and I hope you all find it entertaining. Please feel free to post a comment (it would be great to hear from you) and if you would like a link back to your site in my side bar (ohhhh matroooooon!!) let me know.

Again many thanks and see you soon.

;-)

I'm spinnind around

Good news :-)

The foot Dr dude says yah I can do some training. So I started tonight with a 15 minute session on the elliptical trainer. Fingers crossed it all seems to have gone ok no aches and pains yet.

To help I've also started to take some supplements - so hopefully they will keep me on the road to recovery.

More training tomorrow 30 minutes and some weights.

I love bank holidays!

What a fantastic bank holiday weekend :-)

The weather has been average, but the time off work was completely needed. Today was spent on roller coasters and thrill rides with the crazy small person. The rest of the weekend was with friends, but no running still (I hadn’t realised how much I need to run to sort out my noisy head).

On the ankle front - It’s looking up! (It’s no longer the size of a balloon more like a melted ping pong ball) I have been wearing my shoe insets and they seem to be doing the trick. They are taking a bit of getting used to though. When you have them in there’s no way that your foot can flatten out which should stop any future injuries.

I am going to see if the foot doctor will allow some mild exercise maybe a few more walks around the village and a session on the elliptical trainer… or 6

Hope you all had a great time as well this weekend. Work tomorrow :-(
