I HATE running!

Well actually two things about it, number one being the first mile of any run. I HATE IT! My brain tells me to stop, it hurts, sit down and do something less energetic instead. Then to add to the chorus, my lungs pipe in with the go home anthem with backing vocals from my dodgy legs. Why?

The second thing that I hate about running is… it’s so addictive! This is my first proper full training month (I have been running at least 3 times a week since last August though) and I’m sold hook line and sinker. After the first mile is out of the way, I find myself really, really enjoying running, adding miles, changing routes and generally being exercising outdoors (even in the rain).

I have just added up this months totals and adding in today’s 10K run it equals 102 miles!

I would like to say thanks for all the support via posts to the blog, it has helped me no-end to keep focused and also to get my butt out of the door when I was thinking maybe I’d rather not run but drink a cheeky vodka.

Next on my to-do list is to start working on my speed - I don’t think I’m ever going to be mega fast but I’d love to do my next ½ under 1.55 J

Hope everyone has a good run this weekend - come on summer!

It Blows!

I can't get over how windy it is - it felt like I was running in treacle! Managed to do a 4K. :-P

Monday, Monday!

Well jumping straight back on the long distance (well for me long distance) I did a 10K run.

It felt like 20K as the wind and rain managed to exfoliate the bits of my body that were left exposed to the elements.

But it is a good start to the week and hopefully the weather will calm down.

Sunday, March 26

It's the end of the week...

I did a 3K run yesterday (Saturday) and intended to do a long run today - but I'm tired out :-(

I think that I will take it as a hint and rest up and start over tomorrow - going to do 4x10K's during the week, leaving a 10K+ to pull in over the weekend.

So then my total for this week is 21.5K not bad, but not great. Roll on next week :-)

On a plus note - Saw my first toad/frog yesterday :-) must be spring!

Saturday, March 25

Just a quick one

Got home from work late last night, and still hadn't managed to get a run in :-(

It was raining and dark, so I thought that I would bomb around the block. Did a 2.5k in 11min and 5seconds. :-) that's 10 seconds faster than last time I tried running it fast :-)

Thursday, March 23

Oh no! not another post

Sorry if I'm Getting a bit dry on the old posts, It's been busy at work and im tired out :-/

Did a 6k today - need to shift some miles soon.

Wednesday, March 22

London Baby :-)

No running this Tuesday - I went down to London, but not for work this time. I spent the day in some studio space for a D&Ad day out with Mr Ian Wright and what a fantastic day it was :-).

Back to the real world today, and a Lunchtime 6K, I'm going have to start putting in some miles this week if I want to hit the 50K again. But to make things harder my ipod has died :-(

So now I face the question do I buy a new battery (it works plugged in to the computer) or a shuffle?

Monday, March 20

First time this year...

Did a lunchtime 4k without a jacket on :-) Is spring here?

Sunday, March 19

Ps

Just added my weekly total up 53k :-)

Long run...

Did my long run today - in fact its the longest that I've ever ran. Managed to do 14 miles - or as my online conversion tool tells me 22.526. :-)

My feet are a bit sore, but apart from that I feel good :-)

I hope that everyone else's runs went ok. Here’s to next week!

Friday, March 17

Lap'in it up

Did a 4K run today - so if I'm right thats about 30k :-P

If I do my half marathon tomorrow morning that takes me over the 50K mark this week. Im looking forward to a long run in the morning, And seem to be holding up ok with the increases in distance.

:-)

Thursday, March 16

Wow!

Well not really wow, more like i did 5k :-)

Midweek rest

I am off to London tomorrow for work (well today in half an hour), so I'm taking it as a rest day from running :-) I will do 10K Thusday and Friday and on Saturday I'm going to run 13.5miles.

Looks like I will be better prepared this year for the Robin-Hood half (if I keep it up at this pace anyway) - last year when I ran it I had only just over 1 and half months running under my belt.

I am really looking forward to it, and also running again with the student/man responsible for getting my slack backside in to jogging, Jamie.

Can I have a rewind!

I decided that I'd do my normal 10K today but run it the other way round (no not backwards Andy). I was surprised how different running it in reverse made it.

Some sections were a lot harder this way round, and I noticed some new things on the way round to relive the boredom. From now on I think I will run every other day in reverse.

Off out again tonight with the fun sized one (she asked me this morning if we could go when I get home from work) so all being well I should finish today with 11.5K done.

Monday, March 13

It's a start

Windy cold weather today (and there’s more on the way - where did spring go?), so what better than a 10K run to blow the computer cobwebs out.

I had a really good run, and the wind helped push me along one of the hard long straights which runs parallel to a dual carriageway.

Looking forward to see if I can hit my 50K target this week :-)

Cool running

It had been snowing steadily this morning so getting motivated to leave the house was quite hard. But motivation came in the form of my seven year old daughter who wanted to go for a run :-)

She has been watching me running and wants to get in to it as well (and also wanted a mention on the blog).

During our run we were talking about sponsorship and whom she thinks would be good to run for. As it was so cold out she thinks it would be a good idea to run for a homeless person's charity (one that specialises in care for children) because "everyone should have some place to sleep at night, and have something to eat".

So next week we will be looking on-line at for likely charities that fit the bill.

Oh yes, we managed to do 1.6K together, which also pushed my weekly total up to 41.6K :-) ACE!!

Roll on next week I am aiming for 50K.

Hopefully my new purchase will lighten the load :-P its a techno towel, it's about the size of 2 T-clothes and weighs next to nothing, it feels like a chamois leather and works pretty well.

I don't think that I’d like to use it in a public changing room though, as it only gives you as much coverage as a postage stamp :-)

Kinky Boots

Had a day off work yesterday, and last night watched "Kinky Boots" which turned out to be an excellent movie :-) But during the evenings viewing I drank a little to much sauce. So when this morning came around I was the a little worse for wear :-/

I Started out not knowing what sort of distance I'd put in, the first couple of miles were a nightmare - and then it got easy :-) I managed to do a 10 miler or about 16k :-) So I have hit my target of 40k this week and anything I do tomorrow will be a bonus!

To everyone who has a race this weekend, I hope the weather stays ok (and the wind isn't in your face).

Thursday, March 9

Day off...

I was in London all day yesterday and didn't get back home until 9 - so I didn't make it out for a run (unless you count the run from Holborn to St Pancras for the train).

Went out today with a fresh pair of legs :-) and did a 11k run, still aiming for the 40 - 45k this week, then next week 50k I hope. After I have done this for a week, I'm going to start looking at my speed. Running is 'SO' good at the moment, no aches or pains (yet) - just plenty of time to clear my head and think things through.

Last year I did all my sponsorship for Cancer Research, which is a cause near home (my father-in-law was diagnosed with it last year) - But I'm not sure whom to run for this year, any suggestions?

Tuesday, March 7

Out with the old...

Thought i'd upload some pic's that I did a while ago :-)

Monday, March 6

Weights :-X

Got home and started with weights again :-) haven't done any for about 3 weeks - so I'm a bit shaky (green door style) after an hour session. Feels good though.

Lunch time run

A loverly sunny afternoon and a little wind :-) fantastic! I managed to run a 9K circuit, and avoid the rain.

Sunday, March 5

Sunday Run

It's very windy at the moment, so I did the 2.5k run around the block.

This weeks totals = 33.5k, which I'm very pleased with :-)

Next week I am to cross train 3 times and also run between 40 - 45 k.

Saturday morning run

Got up about 7 this morning and went for a early run. It looked cold, but bright so I thought that I'd take my camera along and take some pic's of the village as I ran round.

I think that I have finaly shaken the cold that I've had for the last month - did a 13k run some road, some off road. It was probably the best run I have had this year :-) Plenty of time to think, and at last I can breath normaly again.

Hope you like the pic's - and everyone has a good run or two this weekend.

About a mile and half from home

Friday, March 3

It seemed like a good idea at the time…

Last night as I was going to bed for some reason I thought to myself "now that the mornings are getting lighter it would be time to start morning running again."

Six o’clock came around way to quick, and as I looked out the window I couldn’t believe how frozen the village was.

I always hate the first mile or so – and today was no exception it felt like my face was going drop off.

Glad that I’m slowly getting back into it, did a 7.5k, Looking forward to next month when I’ve managed to get back up to full speed.

Wednesday, March 1

Man it's cold!

Just got back in - thought I’d better keep up the running, now that I’ve got at least 3 readers :-)

Been for a run around the 2.5k route around the village - kept it easy as it's sooooooo cold (think I lost my nipples on the lane, going to get the torch to check for them).

I plan on doing the lunchtime run tomorrow (Thursday) - we are lucky enough to have showers so at least I don't stink the studio out.
