Smack me down...

This came out of the end of my pencil today whilst on the phone. Not sure why.

Late night running...

Got out for a late night 4 miler (40mins) tonight :-) Part of the run takes me along a footpath through the forest for about a mile, but what makes it really cool is that it's pitch black. Tonight was really dark out as it was cloudy, so no moon and there are no street lights or even houses- just my little LED light to guide the way.

I must admit half way along I started thinking about nutters hiding in the shadows... helped me keep my pace up.

I can't get no sleep....

At least once a year I have 2-3 weeks of Insomnia, I'm about 2 weeks in at the moment. It's like someone has forgotten to tell my brain to shut UP! it just won't switch off.

The plus side = Commissioned work can get done as I have extra time to sort it out.

The down side = By the time 6.00am comes around all I want to do is stay in bed, not get out and drive down the M1.

Sleep tight.

It's a small world...

Not in the freaky Disney ride kind of sense, but in the “I can’t believe I’ve bumped into you” kind of way. For example the other year we were over in a flea market on the outskirts of Paris looking around, when we bumped in to a woman you lives in the village. What are the chances of that happening?

This happened to me the other day, but this time on the internet. I was browsing around Flickr and found some photos of the Black Pearl resting up in the Caribbean. The photo was by someone who lived over there and enjoyed the fact that he could take the pictures of the ships and crew.

Being a nosey little bugger I clicked on their profile and started looking through their contacts. They had loads of people on their list. A few pages in I bumped into a familiar face. A friend who I haven‘t seen in ages - who lives in town. Small world isn’t it… and getting smaller.

Back from the grave...

Like Godzilla out of the sea we managed a lunchtime run...3.5miles :-)

Something for nothing...

The small person made me ill :-( NO RUNNING FOR ME.

What a drip...

I managed to pull in a 5 miler today in 48 minutes. The weather was very wet and windy. By the time I’d finished it looked like I’d had a shower in my running kit. Even though it was wet I had a really great run - Loved it!

One thing to note though - how come my Garmin takes twice as long to find a satellite when it’s raining?

The little person is still ill - we finally got to bed at 2 last night, then up at 6... ERROR!

Tuesday, November 21

Idiot!

We are stupid busy at work, in early and home late - and when it all gets a bit much I like to go out for a jog.

I couldn't wait to go out this lunchtime at one o'clock. Got into the shower room to get changed, stripped off put my t-shirt on... DOH! no shorts :-( RUBBISH. Got dressed, went back to desk sat at my Mac and continued too work.

The drive home was a mare - and I've just spent all evening with the small person who has picked up a nasty chest infection at school...it's going to be a long night.

Someone hates me - prehaps it's the god of B&Q.

It was a very chatty lunchtime jog, but we managed to pull in 3.3miles in 33mins :-D and not even get abuse thrown at us.

Not much else to report apart from the fact that I remembered the original Gorillaz album sounding better than it was - the latest one is in fact better (so there brain) I blame that when the original came out I still drank a litre of vodka a week, and now I only have a glass of red wine a night.

It's all gone a bit autumnal in the garden :-)

Good news!

Well it’s looking good on the chemo front. Rescued him from the hospital yesterday afternoon , and he seems to be doing well. He is just really tired but is managing to eat, which is a first.

On the running front unlike jogblog I didn’t manage to get out the house early (I was up at 6.30 though thanks to the small person alarm clock) - we had friends over to stay and it turned into a late night last night fuelled by red wine and nice home cooked food. But I did manage to sneak out at lunchtime whilst everyone played card games for a quick 4.5miles around the village. It’s a lovely day today, crisp and cold but very sunny.

Chemo take 5

Well dropped him off at hospital yesterday for hit 5 of the chemo set, it marks a milestone though as it’s the half way mark :-). Hopefully we will be picking him up later today (already been in this morning).

Gotta feel sorry for him. He spends three weeks getting over the chemo (even though he has a chemo bum bag thing 24/7 as well) and not being able to eat, as his taste buds get screwed by the chemicals (lucky he hasn’t got a stomach any more to tell him he is starving hungry), then just as he can eat something without being sick he has to go in and have it all again. Fingers crossed in six months it will all be over and he can get on with life again.

With the hospital trips and problems at work I didn’t get out yesterday for a run. But got up at 7 this morning and did 4.5 miles - going to get up and do a long run tomorrow.

I must admit you know you have a devolved an addiction to running when you’d rather get up and run in the morning frost than staying in bed at the weekend. If someone had told me that I’d being doing this a couple of years ago I would have laughed at them. But it seems to be one of the things I really look forward to now.

Well I hope that everyone else gets out for a good run this weekend.

Last night...

Is it me or is it harder to go for a run at this time of year? 3 months ago 6.45pm looked sunny and nice, last night it was pitch black, windy and raining :-( I went out for Day2's run, did 3.4 miles. In the first 5 minutes I managed to trip over and hurt myself (some twat had parked their car on the pavement, and when I went around it caught my foot in a hole).

Apart from that it was a pretty boring run, hopefully I'll pick up and love running again when I get some sleep...

Celebration

enjoy :-)

Day one

Got my ass this lunchtime for a soaking wet 3 miler - the first one to kick start my 10K training again. It was hard work from start to finish, I knew it was going to be - the weather was wet and windy and I had stomach cramp after about 2 minutes. The only plus was my Garmin picked up a signal in 2 seconds flat (or am I being tracked by the government).

I managed to do my 3 miles in 31.30 minutes, but it felt like an hour! I’ve started to use my new trainers every time I run now, but found that if I wear my orthics in them my feet hurt. So I’ll try running without them for a bit (I think the new ones have too much support) and hopefully I wont kill my ankles.

I still haven’t got around to any holiday based posts – I will do when I get a minute, there’s a few crackers to tell (I was thrown out of a Disney Park for looking like a pirate). Time to go now though.

Sunday, November 12

Brrrrrr!

Today was a longish run day. Got up and put on my kit, but it took me another hour to convince myself to leave the house - man it’s gotten cold.

Had a good run though, managed to do 6.5 miles in just over an hour. I’m trying to get back into it slowly this week and head out full pelt next week. When I got back home though my calf was killing me, so I’ve iced it and stretched it and sprayed it with deep heat (turning my leg lobster red). Hopefully it will ease off, I think it is just my body telling me to stay in and do something else instead of running ;-)

My iPod shuffle came with me today naked for the first time ever. Not me (I wouldn’t wish that on anyone first thing on a Sunday morning) but the shuffle. The reason for this is that the protective case uses a extension cable for the headphones - this has gone dodgy for some reason meaning that I can’t use the case I’ll have to look out for one, but seeing how the new mini shuffle is out now I won’t hold my breath.

Went shopping yesterday and brought myself a hat. The woman in the shop said it made me look like kid rock, I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing… but at least I’ve got a warm head and a change from mu usual winter choice of beanies :-)

losers!

It’s official Preston and I are losers! But the flipside is we didn’t lose as much as the other team so we won :-) haha! How funny is that. They did not look impressed that our ill advised tat made more money than there so called trained eyed purchases. It should be on the TV in about 5 months or so. Expect to see Bargain hunt fleeces appearing on eBay soon.

Today’s filming day was a right drag, it took from 9-4, most of the time was sat squeezed in a tiny office building with 18 or so other people that we had nothing in common with and no alcohol to consume to make them more interesting.

On the running front today - miles covered = 0

On the holiday front - holidays booked for next year = 1 to Florida (now all I have to do is work like a nutter to save up for it).

First Lunch time jaunt

Phew! that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, Preston and I managed a cheeky 3.5 miler.

More Bargain hunt filming tomorrow, fingers crossed we will make a profit - whatever happens should be a laugh.

The only stats today:
Joggers passes = Three.

Jet Lag

:-( can't sleep even though I'm done in. Work is a wake up call... I like holidays.
Didn't manage to get out at lunchtime yesterday, but did a run when I got home from work. Who switched the sun off, it's cold.

Home again :-(

Star Wars, originally uploaded by jogger164.

Hi :-P back home and blogging again. We had an ace time! 12-14 hours a day running around theme parks, and watching shows etc :-). The weather was pretty mild even cold one day...Global warming! I have posted a few pics up on Flickr and will try and catch up with everyones blogs asap.

I managed to run most days the first week, but had a week off at the end of the holiday (I managed to pick up a stinking cold). So I'm going back to week 1 of my 10K training tomorrow and drag Preston out, as I bet he hasn't been out for 2 weeks ;-)
