SEE YA :-P

Clown, originally uploaded by jogger164.

Well that's me near enough finished! YAH! I've got one more day of work to go, quick hospital run and hopefully one more 3 miler before I go.

I'm looking forward to:
Doing all the Disney Parks, and all the new rides.
Swimming with a Dolphin.
Dressing up as Jack Sparrow and spending the night in Magic Kingdom with the small one collecting candy and autographs.
Water parks!
But most importantly NOT WORKING! This is my only holiday this year :-P

I will try and blog a bit if I can from the hotel, but if you don't hear from me...See you on the flipside :-D

PS - Just checked my stats and since Feb I've had 10,178 visitors :-P

New trainers part 2

My ankles didn't seem to bad this morning so I thought that I'd take my new trainers for another test run this lunchtime (and plus my comfy trainers are packed ready for shipping to Florida).

Preston and I ventured out and did 3 and bit miles - And my ankle seems to be ok :-P we will have to see.

On a side note there seemed to be something fishy going down by the river, loads of people poking sticks into the river...

It’s not unusual…

But highly unexpected! We went to a friends wedding reception last night, and had a right good time. But the evening was made even better when at around 10pm a Tom Jones tribute act turned up and did an hour of hits :-) Very unexpected indeed, but it was a good laugh.

Went out this morning and had a great 7 miler, mixed it up a bit today and did 6 miles of it in the forests.

We are franticly packing at the moment preparing for our trip over to Florida. I can’t wait!

Out in the old girls again...

Another lunchtime run - 5k in 26mins :-) I think this is the fastest time I’ve done it in.

Well the patient is back home and so far so good :-) He is managing to eat and even drink a little! Must be the gross food and warm milk that the serve up in hospitals. So fingers crossed he should put a little weight back on in the next 2 weeks before he has to have the next load of chemo (he lost about 3/4 of a stone last week).

Holiday update...ERROR! We have been waiting for our tickets etc to arrive (bear in mind we paid for the holiday in full about 2 months ago). They still hadn't arrived yesterday so I rang the travel company and was assured that they had been sent on the 6th and would be with us soon. When I got off the phone I checked the date on my computer - hold on it's the 12th! Rang them straight back - Oh! We will send you duplicate documents out today, but the only ones we can't send are your Disney Passes. The new documents arrived this morning - but now we have the joy of queuing at the airport in Florida once we arrive to be re-issued our theme park tickets, just what you want after 12hours travelling.

I'd like to know what's happening to our letters - my Visa bill went missing this month as well! Something smells!

Anyway - hope you all have a good weekend.

Hello from the green room

Bargain hunt was a good laugh - even though we had to leave the house at 6am and got back around 6pm :-)

Went out for a run this lunchtime - I put on my trusty old trainers and did 3 miles with only a little foot pain... I’ll keep on running in them until my ankles 100%.

I'm well tired - all the long days then evenings at the hospital are catching up. Still no improvement from the Cancer ward, he is meant to be coming home fully dripped up as he still cant eat or drink :-/

New Trainers 2 - Feet & Ankles 0

Today is going to be a forced rest day :-(

Got up in the night because my right ankle is killing me... I think it's the evil new trainers fault! I'm going to rest until it stops hurting then have a run in both pairs of trainers and see who's to blame. If it is the new 'uns they will be going back to sweatshop :-)

I've been told I'm not allowed to hurt my ankle for 2 reasons.
1 - It's bargain hunt filming day tomorrow.
2 - It's only just over a week until we go to Florida :-P

Knocked that on the head!

I didn't end up getting to bed until about half past this morning - so when my alarm clock rang this morning at six, no way was I going to drag my ass out of bed.

So I decided to knock the long run on the head and start this week a new. With that in mind ventured out with the ol' Preston for a jaunt around the block for 3 Miles. We did it spot on 30 minutes, which wasn't as slow as I thought we'd be as we talked a lot.

So tomorrow it's a 4.5miler :-)

I went running in my new shoes again, still getting my feet used to them. Is this normal? Please let me know what you reckon as I've only ever broken in new shoes when I've returned to running after a lay off so I haven’t ever noticed the foot pain.

It’s all been a bit sketchy

This weeks training has been a little sketchy to say the least due to unforeseen circumstances. I’ve tried to fit the runs in as best I can - and so far the only one that I haven’t done is my long run (meant for today).

I did my tempo run yesterday (4 miles) in my new trainers - bit of a mistake I think. They felt really comfy giving me that new shoe softness. But I woke up this morning with foot pain. I was going to do my long run when I got back from the hospital this afternoon - but I’ve decided to put it off until tomorrow morning before work (then a cheeky lunch time run with Preston), hopefully allowing my feet time to stop hurting.

I’m going to do all my speed work and long runs in my old trainers until I have got the new chaps bedded in properly.

Hospital update
Still no progress really - apart from he is bored out of his head which must mean he is slowly coming around. Is it me or do chemo wards smell horrible! I know all hospitals smell funny but the chemo bit pongs, must be all the toxic drugs everyone is on.

Looking forward to the fun size persons bedtime tonight - we are going to start reading Peter Pan in Scarlet . I’ve read good reviews of it and even if it’s a bit pants half the money goes to Great Ormond Street Childs hospital (the original books rights was donated to them by J.M Barrie) - and it really is a great hospital.

Friday, October 6

Another day...Thank Goodness it's Friday!

Got out for a jog this lunchtime - did a slow 3 miles. It was nice to have fresh legs :-) Still haven't had a chance to run in my new shoes - might do tomorrow as I'm planning on doing Wednesdays speed training that I missed.

Heart rate was avg 148bpm.

Off to the hospital again tonight - poor chap is having a bad one this time :-/

Funniest search engine query today "glue sniffing"

Ps felt sorry for the fun sized one last night, went to feed her goldfish last night and her favourite little one was floating. We gave her a porcelain funeral and flushed her to the sea :-)

Off to the hospital...

Chemo is hard!

The last 2 days have been really bad from a chemo point of view. Last time Dad went in, he had the treatment over night and came home the next day, with a chemo pack and pump connected 24/7. He has been back every week since for a new set of chemicals and a pump change – knowing that every month he has to go in for an overnight stay.

This week we took him in and expected it to be the same as before – WRONG! He had his big chemo hit and everything seemed to be ok. But he couldn’t sleep and kept being sick. This has turned into a nightmare. They can’t stabilise him and he can’t even drink. They think he may have picked up a blood infection.

Fingers crossed they sort him out soon – Only another 6 months of chemo to go…

Rough as a badgers...

No running for me today - I feel like POOH!

Tuesday, October 3

My day...

Well today was a rush of emotions.

An abridged version of my day:

Running.
Did 4.1 miles around the village - it went ok, but my legs seemed a little tired.

Simons funeral.
It went as well as these things go, but it seemed really rubbish being at a funeral for such a young person. Going to miss you big lad :-(

Chemo - take 3.
Dad’s back in hospital tonight having his next lot of chemicals pumped into his body. Hope it goes ok. Had to pop to hospital straight after the funeral instead of going to the wake.

Bargain hunt.
Mobile phone call from the BBC - Preston and I are going to be on :-D we film next week. LOL!

Back to the hospital to pick up the visitors…and now a quick blast on the internet whilst dinner is in the other.

All in all - odd day.

Ps I forgot to put taking the small person to school and work as well.

Sunday

I went down to an event at “sweat shop” yesterday to buy some new trainers as they had a 15% discount all day . When I got there the place was buzzing. Ron Hill was there to go running with a group of eager whippets. I said “hello” to him and made my way to the shop assistant.

The trouble is the trainers felt alright in the shop, well as ok as new trainers do. But when I got home and tried them on properly I realised that they are rubbish. So sometime this week I’ve got to trek back over to the shop on the other side of Nottingham… BUM!

Today’s run should have been the virgin voyage of my new trainers, but I left them in the box and put my faithful New balance boys on. We headed out for a final Sunday jaunt around the village and managed to spank a 6.5 miler (ok I know I should have done 5 but don’t tell Mr Higdon).

It rained most of the time and I got soaked by a woman driving a Land Rover - but my iPod kept me company and carried me around with the dulcet tones of the Kooks and Dj Format.

The stats are below - it was a slow one today, I’m fighting the cold that my daughter and everyone at work seems hell bent on giving me.

A big-up going out to my mate Jamie! He texted me to tell me he finished the GREAT NORTH in 1.30mins, Rocket Man!

The rest of the day has been messing around finishing our costumes for our upcoming trip to Disney World in Florida - we are going to the “Not so scary Halloween party” which looks like fun, I’m going as Mr Jack Sparrow and the girls are fully Tinkerbelled up… If I can, I’ll post a picture later of me in my wig (LOL!) my beard is doing my head in now, I’ve been growing it for a month and a half.

Well that’s about all - apart from the interview to be on Bargain Hunt seemed to go well - and Preston and I will find out tomorrow :-)

A few stats:

Distance 6.5 mile
Heart stats AVG 146bpm - MAX 169bpm
Temperature wet
