It's me again

Not much to report - Stupid busy at work and my ankle still is rubbish :-(

I am hoping that a month will put it right, but I'm not sure it will.

On the good news front, went to the hospital* to have an XRAY to see if it was a stress fracture, and it's not :-)

I also got my shoe inserts the other day, went for a slow walk at lunchtime - they make your trainers feel odd as your foot can't flatten out, they will take a bit of getting used to I think.

* Hospital related story. How comes there is always a crazy guy in the A&E - this time he was screaming about the voices in his head not allowing him to sleep. He then started swearing his head off at the nurses who warned him that if he didn't stop being abusive they would treat him... another barrage of abuse and a security guard later and all was quiet again.

Hi :-)

A huge thankyou for all the support :-) Not really much to write about, I haven't made it swimming yet as my ankle is still wrong! I thought that it might have started to get better by now - but not yet :-(

I dare not get in the pool as I'll flip upside down and drown as my inflated foot keeps me held under ;-)

I'm going to see the foot chap again tonight - and get my shoe inserts and show him how well I'm not doing - hopefully he will have some answers that will mend me over night :-)

Non run related news - I found out the other day that it's not a good idea to put shower gel in your eyes (by accident - it managed to shoot me in the face). I am now limping about with a half closed swollen eye as well :-D What a mess - I don't think I'd score to high on the HotOrNot.com :-)

Anyways gotta start work :-)

Cheers :-P

Thanks for all the support - I'll try and think of something funny to help me carry on posting over the next few weeks (but I won't moan about me ankle any more - promise).

I hope that everyone that has a run planned this weekend has a great one (and anyone doing the london, that I know i'll look out for you and have a drink with you in mind as you sweat it out on the streets).

Again Cheers :-)

Gutted!

I can’t believe it! Just got fit and now my ankles put a stop to it. I went to see the foot doctor last night. He seemed a very nice chap. After poking my ankle and hitting it with a hammer he made me hobble barefooted on a running machine ( I did ask if it was standard practise for me to be naked? :-D ).

The verdict is now in. The pins and needles that I’d been having in my ankle was the nerve (that runs down your leg and around your ankle and under the foot) being stretched as my foot over-pronates. This is responsible for my ankle swelling and the pain.

The good news is its treatable, Ice packs and shoe inserts. The Bad news is that I’m not allowed to run for a month! A month! WAAAAAAAA!!!

I have stuck a countdown timer in the right hand column to give me something to look forward to. And I will carry on posting to the blog.

In the meantime it looks like swimming (as suggested by EDINBURGHRUNNER) and weights for me.

No Jogging for me

:-(

My ankle still really hurts, so I rested it yesterday - well sort of rested it we went to drayton manor theme park :- Went on this ride (select here) Which was funny as :-P

I'm going to book up to see a podiatrist as soon as possible - to hopefully sort me out :-)

Come on and do the conga...

... That's about the speed I can bumble around at, at the moment :-)

Did a 3K ( woowww!! pushing the level up ;-) ) jog, My ankle feels like it's starting to get get better (or is it me just wishing it would).

I have read some reports about glucosamine, and think that I may start taking it when the shops re-open as well as some sort of fish oil - Jogblog you said that you had started taking it (I think I read it on your blog) does it help at all?

EarThumps

My new headphones came the other day and they are ACE! :-P

They really cut out external noises and increase the base. All for about £11 off ebay.

Check out the official website here.

Stir carzy...

I couldn't face another day without a little run, so i soaked my ankle in a bucket of cold water, strapped it up and went out for a slow but sure 2.5K.

Got back and re-dunked it in the bucket. My ankle seems to be no better or worse than yesterday - so unless it goes up like a balloon again I may stick to the above routine :-P

New feet anyone?

Went into Nottingham today and found the perfect shop to sort out my bad foot :-)

Yah!

It's nearly the Weekend!

Wahh!

How i feel today!

I'm feeling sorry for myself! I don't want to rest up.

Running on iTunes unleaded!

Good news
I'm loving the new ipod - I had forgotten how great it is to run with music to help you along the way.

Bad news
I took yesterday as a rest day as my left ankle was still hurting a tad. Today it didn't feel to bad so I thought I'd do a 10K, which I did. The bad news is that it's bl**dy killing me now! I'm not sure what I have done to it? It hurts when I rotate it, but mostly where the boney round bit pokes out and points inwards towards my other leg. I have taken a couple of nurofen that seem to have eased the pain off, but if anyone has any suggestions on how I could treat it, I would be most happy :-)

The real pain about it is that I'm probably at the fittest I've ever been, I will rest it up a bit over the next few days - but I really, really don't want to :-( (sulk, sulk).

Looking forward to taking it for a test run tomorrow morning, its been a long time since I've ran with tunes :-)

I've also ordered some in-ear headphones, but I'm still waiting for them :-(

Jack be nimble, Jack be quick…

...Jack Frost came and made me sick!
Went for an early morning 15K run this morning. Man it was freezing! I was having a real good run, my legs felt fresh and my pace was quite fast (slowly getting there).

But then Jack Frost stuck his pointy finger of doom down my throat and made me sick :-/ but I thought that I might as well carry on as I was about half way round.

Still had a good run, but I’m not sure if it’s a bug or something that I’ve eaten :-X

What’s the story morning glory.

Well got out of bed and really didn’t want to go out for my run. But made myself go out and had a great one.

Miles 4,5 and 6 felt great. In the end I managed to pull in 15 miles or 24K :-P the longest run that I’ve ever done and also managed to do it in 1hour 58minutes :-P bonus!

Last year when I did my first ½M it took me around 2.15 - looking forward to see how fast I can do my next one in.

No run Friday

I'm having a rest day today - my left ankle is hurting, so thought it best to give it a day off :-P

All being well, I'm aim to run 13-14miles tomorrow for my long run. Then off to the theatre to see this (select here) looks ACE! :-)

New Toy on it's way

Bit the apple so to speak today and ordered one of these (select here) I will replace the battery in my old ipod, but I can't stand running without tunes :-)

Three in a row

Well got home roughly on time (about 3/4hour late) - got in, put my runners on and headed out.

Managed a 3K in the wind - so YAH! did it :-P

All told I did 13.5K today :-) enjoyed doing the split, but reckon it would be more fun to do it on a Saturday or Sunday and try 3x10-15K.

L'8 lunch

Got out for a late lunch and had a good 8K run - bit windy though.

Also I was asked the funniest thing in a long time whilst out jogging "HAVE YOU GOT A LIGHT?" LOL! I'm in shorts and a T-shirt jogging around a lake, I think not.

:-)

Mac Triple

I'm aiming for the triple today :-) not the burger kind, but I'd like to try and get in 3 runs. I've started they day off with a quick blast around the 2.5K route at home... Let's see if I can make it out at lunchtime :-)

The Beer run...

Well more like the chardonnay shuffle. I got home late from work and decided it would be nice to have a glass of wine or two. The problem was that the cupboard was bare :-)

So instead of taking the car to the village shops I decided to do the right thing and jog there and back – much to the amusement of the lady who served me :-/ I must have looked like an alcoholic sweating for a bottle of wine.

But it all helps keep the mileage up – the little jog added up to 3K, and some fine mid week wine :-)

No laughing we're joggers!

Found this link this morning :-P (select here)

Alarm clock?

I think that it would have helped somewhat if I'd set my alarm clock for this morning! :-/ No prizes for guessing if I got out on a pre-work run.

But to make up for it did a 10K, the weather was nice (I'm loving the spring now) and I also ran it in the fastest time I've ran it in: 52min 33 seconds :-P happy with that!

Just set my alarm - so hopefully will get out in the morning before work tomorrow. :-)

Monday, April 3

Squashing one in :-P

Since Wednesday I have had around 10 hours sleep B-/ I thought that I'd be up for a lunchtime 10K but that seemed like the wrong thing to do when the time came. So I worked through instead.

The drive home was nice, so I thought that I'd take advantage to the brighter nights and grab myself a 2.5K slice of the jogging pie. :-) I feel so much better for it!

My plan is to hit the mattress early tonight and hopefully pull in a long pre-work run tomorrow :-)

Fingers crossed - I'll post on the flipside.

Wot no run?

I didn't manage to get a run in at all this weekend :-(

The funsized one has been fighting a viral infection since Wednesday - 3 nights of being up all the way through the night has taken toll and apart from Friday's run we've all been stuck indoors sporting matching black bags under our eyes :-/

Good news is that the temperature that had managed to keep her burning up has started to drop :-) sigh of relief! We have all been sat watching day time telly this weekend and I can't get over how much crud is on during the day and it's even worse over on the generic satellite channels :-P (Ps Roy walker doesn’t do catchphrase anymore either?).

Looking forward to pulling in a 10K run tomorrow, and at least 3 more during the week - and hopefully a 14miler at the weekend.

:-)
